Thanks for your answer. Were the hosts swamped by single ladies wanting partners or did most people have their own partner? Just wondering whether how many dances we could expect! Also we have decided to take the early dining option so as to be sure of a table in the ballroom, but maybe it doesn't get that busy. Hope you had a great time!

Why take the chance ladies? Surely, since you are so desperate for a dance partner, wouldn't it make sense to take your own? I think I should be available during most of the summer for this service! Happy cruising.

We should have taken you with us!! We didn't get as many dances as we'd hoped for!

It depends on the evening. It tended to be very busy on the formal ball evenings and tables were at a premium but other evenings were less crowded and the hosts were not very busy.

Hello a friend of mine who is a keen ballroom dancer is a regular dance host on cruise ships. He is kept on his feet every evening! He hosts on a foreign vessel so I would check with the uk cruise line themselves whether they provide this service. On the new liners I'm afraid ballroom dancing is taking a back seat, sometimes it is only a fillup between shows. On Princess cruises for instance I have only seen a few hours dancing in the lower atrium with all the lights on! hope this helps and you have a happy cruise. David Powell travel journalist
