Cunard’s QM2 Prepares for 100th Transatlantic Crossing

Queen Mary II will depart on her 100th Transatlantic cruise on 21st September from Southampton, and will arrive in New York on 27th September. On arriving, the ship will have logged a total of 711,288 nautical miles since her debut – 316,729 of those miles being on Transatlantic voyages alone.

“Perhaps more than any other voyage, a Transatlantic Crossing captures the imagination of the most intrepid travellers,” said Carol Marlow, president of Cunard Line. “A Transatlantic voyage recalls a bygone era of glamour and sophistication. For many, it is on par with the world’s most storied travel experiences.”

Other milestones QM2 will be celebrating on her 100th Transatlantic cruise include 450 pets crossing the North Atlantic, 97,000 pounds of lobster, 206,200 bottles of Champagne and 2,700 pound of caviar served. The ship has welcomed many famous guests such as Uma Thurman, John Cleese, Barbra Walters, Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, Donald Trump and Dam Shirley Bassey – as well as HRH Queen Elizabeth II, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Hilary Clinton and former president George Bush.
