Sorry to have to say that some of the things on the QE2 2008 World Cruise were not as one would expect from Cunard. Dined in the Brittanis Grill and it soon became apparent that our waiters only had a limited knowledge of the English language. Although it has to be said the food was of the usual standard it was obvious that some expected regular items were not available. For instance there was no Maple Syrup. In its place was MAPLE FLAVOURED SYRUP. Where was the Stilton Cheese? I am not a lover of Caviar but I can remember when it was Beluga. It then changed to Sevruga and now is of a cheaper type I am not familiar with. Although Dover Sole was available on special order it only appeared once on the menu during the whole World Cruise. There also appeared to be a problem in the galley as it was not uncommon, at dinner, for it take an hour for a main course to arrive at the table. Afternoon Tea in the Queens Grill Lounge? On the New York to Southampton sector passengers were on occasions queuing up to get in. The Queens Grill Lounge is supposed to be just that not a teashop. Atmosphere completely ruined.

As for the bathroom in my cabin! To start with the water wouldn't drain properly from the sink. Had to report this a number of times before any action was taken. It only took four days for it to be put right. Had cold water but no hot water. Had hot water and no cold water. Yes! There was even hot water in the toilet. The shower stopped working on a number of occasions. It would usually be hours before a plumber arrived. In fact on one occasion had to approach the Hotel Manager to have things put right.

We now come to the Pursers Office. I can appreciate they were probably under a lot of pressure but why did they have to be obstructive, sarcastic, uncooperative and tell lies. When there is no water in the shower and one is assured a plumber is coming immediately and nobody turns up I consider that to be economical with the truth.

On the plus side had a really good cabin steward as far as Los Angeles. Nothing was too much trouble. Couldn't complain about the
tours. Although pricey they were up to the usual Cunard standard.

Overall it has to be said the QE2 is a tired old lady. It is definitely not up to the standard once associated with the Cunard name. Just as well it is being retired from service in November.
