Well, they were very high. We'd paid a lot of money for a very special birthday celebration, with eight of us crossing The Atlantic to New York. So, just in case you are thinking of doing the same thing, here goes. The cabin (outside with porthole) far exceeded expectations. It was bigger than expected (we managed to fit a drinks party for eight people in with no problem at all)beautifully decorated, beautfully maintained, incredibly comfortable. Our meals in The Britannia Restaurant were, on the whole, very good. Though I would stress not silver service. The food arrived already plated, under plastic domes, certainly what I (the daughter of a fully trained silver service waitress) would expect. It was well cooked and good quality with plenty of choice. Service across the whole ship was good. My main criticism would have to be the standard of entertainment and, with six days at sea, that was crucial. The talks were dull in the extreme, only two programmes in The Planetarium, not much choice of films in the cinema and the programmes of entertainment in The main theatre were pretty poor. Classes were not great either. I attended a couple of the dance classes and they were pretty woeful, especially as a single woman, I ended up dancing with one of the strange tribe of mature gentlemen who are paid to mingle with single ladies on the dance floor! He was miserable and rude during the class. Though one of the people I met later one evening in the ballroom was very polite and kind.
So, all in all, great cabin, good food (though the worst meal I had was in Todd English's restaurant, where we had paid a premium for the pleasure and my food was inedible!)staff wonderful, entertainment - pretty poor. A great experience though.
