My husband and I have just returned from Cunard's Mediterranean voyage aboard QM2. The departure from Southampton is far superior than departure from NEW York (which was our last trip). Nothing prepares you for your first glimse of the ship, it is immense. It's sheer majesty is a sight to behold.
The majority of passengers are british, who are far more reserved than loud Americans.
This is a voyage mainly for adults (not children) who enjoy the magnificent service and ambiance of the QM2. This is an ocean liner and not a cruise ship ( which has the appearance of a block of flats). On this beautiful ship you feel really special, and be assured that you are completely safe on what is described as the safest most technologically ship afloat.
The English officers are second to none in their appearance and professionalism
The food in the beautiful Britannia restaurant is first class, as is the staff. We found the Kings Court a little bland and mainly for those passengers who prefered to dress casually .
on this voyage we had an inside cabin, it was just as immaculate as our balcony cabin on our last trip, and surprisingly comfortable.
Whilst , however, we love the ship, the entertainment leaves a lot to be desired. The dancers are wonderful and probably amongst the finest you will see. The singers, two girls and two men, are distinctly average, and could only be described as a poor club act. The artists range from excellent musicians to has-been comedians.
The organised trips we found to be very expensive. You can safely do the same trips yourselves for a fraction of the cost.
If however , like us, you like to feel very special and be waited on hand and foot , then this is definitely for you.
Even with the criticisms that we have , we would still only sail on the magnificent QM2. It has no equal!

| | Entertainment | |
| Best shows were the dancers.
David copperfield (comedian) was poor.
Kelly Monteith(american comedian)not suited to british audience | | Shore Excursions
| Rome was a nightmare to travel to, and the Vatican was very money orientated.
Pompei was an excellent trip.
The tour guides however are faultless | | Staff
| All the staff are wonderful. You would never receive this level of service at home.
Enjoy it while you can, because you are too soon back in the real world | | Children's Facilities | n/a |
