Fantastic ship - dining experience a let down

After travelling with Cunard previously -QE2- and enjoying fantastic holidays especially the Coronia dining room, the exciting menu to make your choice from. The food when served was amazing, cooked to perfection, served with perfection. A wine waiter who would spend time with you choosing the correct wine to accompany the meal - trying something different - all a holiday is about. For a change this year we cruised on the QM2 12 days around the med. Cannot fault the ship, stateroom was extremely comfortable, clean, good bed and steward excellent. It did state in the brochure a dressing gown and slippers would be supplied but we only had the gowns. The Brittania restaurant was very disappointing, flowers on the table stayed the same, by the end of the cruise definately looking for life! The menus not the most exciting. Small portions, only a small sighting of any vegetables, after five days we did request some vegetables and brocolli, cauliflower and carrots were served as extra in the second half of the holiday. One evening the choice of desserts was chocolate something or chocolate something else or chocolate something else. Okay we are not big chocolate fans. The food was not always hot. The wine waiter we found not very helpful and never asked if we wanted to see the wine list. The jacket and tie for the gentlemen didn't always mean everyone as some could be seen arriving in no jacket and open shirt. One rule for one maybe. Now the Kings Court - Oh - what a shambles. Four different places to obtain food, on one occasion on returning from a port visit, I wanted a smoked salmon or ham salad. After waiting in the Chef's galley queue. where everyone was asking for french fries or beefburgers to be cooked - All I wanted was a cold piece of salmon or ham but you had to stay in the request for cooked food queue!! When my turn came I was told only the wet plastic ham was on offer and no fish. I tried the other areas but they only had hot food. Also before bedtime I used to enjoy a dry biscuit with cheese. Not always available late in the evening so I had to wrap the biscuits usually from the lunch time and cheese and take to the cabin. Breakfast was also a nightmare as I eat Weetabix I waited every morning for one of the waiters to find them. 20mins one morning just to get a cereal. The entertainment good on three nights the other nights a lot of people soon left the theatre after 10 minutes. The excursions were very expensive and so decided to make our own arrangements. I would like to see more craft projects on board, pottery, cake icing etc.

I also had a laugh. Was this person on the same cruise as my wife and I. The staff couldnt have been more helpful.I have also cruised on the QE2 twice, the food in the Britania was comparable to the Coronia,as for small portions I considered them to be adequate as you can eat 24/7 if you so desire.Attended the Royal Court Theatre everynight didnt see many people leaving.Wonderful cruise cant wait to book next years on the QM2.

Sorry to ruin your laughter --- but the review was for the QM2 ----- Not the QE2 --- Try the QM2 and you will find out how poor it is !!!
