This is only our second cruise and it is significantly better than the one we took last year with a different cruise company, even though the ships were of similar size. Wonderful welcome when we stepped on board for the first time. Our cabin was of a reasonable size and tastefully furnished. Bed was best ever. The food and service in the Lido and main restaurant were excellent. Plenty of choice nicely cooked and nicely presented in main restaurant. Only disappointment was that there was not one Gala Buffet (with the ice statues etc.). The Buffet restaurant was open 24 hours.
Entertainment (in-house and special guests) very professional. No jugglers or acrobats (thank heavens).
Interesting itinerary with highlight for us being two days in Istanbul. Good selection of tours available, although we prefer the adventure of finding our way around by foor and on local transport. Pursers desk very helpful with info on local services. They did not try to persuade us to take their tours.
Liked the way the staff enforced the rules (dress code, etc.) in a quiet but firm way. On our last cruise they did not bother. Lots to do at all times including guest speakers. Ours was Melvyn Bragg which was a nice surprise as he had not been advertised at time of booking. My husband did photographic course he wanted to do at home (and it was free).
All in all it was an excellent holiday; the ship was beautiful and traditional.
If you are celebrating an anniversary it is worth telling Cunard before you sail. We received photo, cake. flowers, chocolates and sparkling wine.
Service excellent, staff in abundance to really make one feel special. If you like formal occasions with lots of opportunities to dress up and be thoroughly spoilt this is definately for you. We can't wait to set sail on the Queen Victoria again. Already thinking about the Baltic cruise in August.
